Voices of New York is a small, high quality adult amateur chorus in existence since 1982. Mary C. Homan is the founding director.

Our singers range in age from 30’s to 80’s, with most in their 40’s and above. Choral experience levels range from little to extensive; everyone who can sing on pitch is welcome. We sing in two- to four-part harmony. Very friendly, dedicated group; we work hard and we have fun!

We have a Fall Term (Sept.-Dec.) featuring Christmas, Hanukkah and seasonal music, and a Spring Term (late Jan.-May) which includes music of diverse styles (folk, pop, classical, religious, Broadway, operetta). We present two to three concerts each term. We have performed at libraries, churches, hotels, assisted living residences, nursing homes, and (after September 11) fire stations.

Regular rehearsal attendance is necessary; occasional absences are permitted. There are solo opportunities for interested members each term.

We never charge admission to our concerts; we do request a voluntary free-will offering at concerts we give at spaces we rent; these concerts are open to the general public.

Singers pay a fee each term which helps cover space rental, accompanist’s stipend and operating expenses. We have no benefactors or angels, and our only other source of funds is our concert free-will offering.
